Big names from Star Wars, Power Rangers and the world of cartoons are among the 100 local and foreign artists who are taking part in a two-day convention at Ta’ Qali for admirers and followers of actors and artists from the world of comics.
Femi Taylor says “this comic con is great because it’s very family orientated and there’s very good energy and feel here. And I’ve been to so many comic cons but this is a really nice feel there’s a comradely here.”
Femi Taylor is a dancer and actress known mainly for her role as the slave dancer in the 1983 film Return of the Jedi. She is one of the foreign actors and artists who work on comics, including Marvel and DC, and who are in Malta for the 1th edition of Comic Con.
We also met up with Jorgito Vargas, known for his role in the Power Rangers series, as Navy Thunder Ranger.
“Actually it’s a lot bigger turnout then I was expecting so it’s amazing. I hear it gets bigger every year. You got amazing cosplayers, the vendors are great there’s lots of stuff to buy down here and the kids showing up with their families, I love it, it’s great yeah.”
Tim Perkins launched the second volume of the graphic story Worlds End – A Hard Reign’s Gonna Fall, during this year’s edition of Comic Con in Malta.
The convention is packed with numerous activities, including console gaming, tabletop gaming, competitions for the best comic character costumes, and workshops for both children and adults.
There are special attractions for adults, and nostalgia in plenty, including Liliana Sorrentino who was the voice of Pollon in the eighties.
“Sembra talco ma non e’. serve a darti l’allegria… caracaracaracara Pollon!”
The 11th edition of Comic Con continues on Sunday.
