Teo Gertler is a Slovak violinist who, despite his tender age of 11, has extraordinary talents. TVM met with Teo while he was rehearsing with pianist Antonio Gomena for a concert in Valletta on the occasion of the Slovak Republic national day event.
He started learning violin at the age of three. Now, 11-year old Teo Gertler is already considered as one of the most promising violinists in the world.
The young Slovak violinist has won many prestigious competitions and, despite his age, he has performed in concerts as a soloist in various countries. He played with orchestras in Switzerland, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Denmark, among others. Teo attended a number of masterclasses with renowned conductors.
“Music is very nice and I like it because happiness comes from it,” Teo Gertler says.
The young violinist is accompanied by Antonio Gomena, a 22-year old pianist, whose career proceeded successfully with concerts as a soloist at the Sanremo Ariston Theatre and in the Palaturismo Theatre in Jesolo. Three years ago, Gomena made his debut at the Carnegie Hall in New York as a soloist.
Italian and international media described Antonio as an artist with formidable talents.
“I had the opportunity, the luck and the honor to be chosen to play with him, so we started to attend concerts and this is a great opportunity for us, here in Malta and also for me to play with Teo,” Antonio Gomena stated.
The two musicians participated in concerts at the San Anton Palace, under the patronage of President George Vella and the Chamber of Commerce. The musicians visited Malta on the invitation of Slovakia’s consul general on the occasion of celebrations marking the Slovak Republic national day.
