13 accused in connection with a Wasteserv accident in which a worker lost his legs
The Police arraigned before Magistrate Joseph Mifsud eleven Wasteserv officials and two JF Services Ltd employees regarding an accident which occurred four years ago in which an Italian worker lost both legs.
The accident had occurred on the 10th June 2017 at the Wasteserv plant in Xewkija, Gozo.
The 50-year old victim was working on a machinery when he was trapped in the machine and suffered grievous injuries and lost his legs.
He was sent to Malta by his company which manufactures the machinery.
The Wasteserv officials are Vincent Bonello, David Borg, Iris Camilleri Mifsud, Frederick Cutajar, Emanuel Magri, Michael Sant, Antonio Montebello, Charlon Buttigieg, Kirsty Zarb, Stefan Carmel Sultana and Andrea Brincat.
The role of these workers varied from directors, plant managers, safety officers and engineers.
The JF Services Limited employees are Matthew and Peter Formosa.
The prosecution in the case is being led by Inspector Charles Bernard Spiteri.
