13 EU Presidents for Arraiolos Group meeting in Malta today

The Arraiolos Group will start meeting in Valletta today, and for the first time the meeting will be presided by the President of Malta, Marie Louise Coleiro Preca. Arraiolos is a forum for non-Executive Presidents of European Union member countries.

The 13 participating Presidents will be arriving in Malta between today and tomorrow, and will be discussing the Crossing Borders theme. There are two main discussions on the agenda.

Today’s discussion will deal with Social Europe in the context of the Global Economy, and will be moderated by Professor Carmel Borg. Tomorrow’s discussion will focus on Security Challenges in the Euro-Mediterranean zone, and the moderator will be Professor Stephen Calleya.

Besides these two discussions, which are being held at the Palace in Valletta, a number of other meetngs and activities will be held at Verdala Palace and at the Mediterranean Conference Centre.

TVM2 and tvm.com.mt will be giving a direct transmission of the opening ceremony of the meeting at about 1.30 p.m.
