UPDATED: Student accused with assaulting two youths in separate incidents
A 14-year old Msida teenager, whose name cannot be published as he is still a minor, was arraigned in Court in connection with the recent argument in Tas-Sliema and with another incident four days before in Tal-Pieta’.
The teenager, a student, was accused that on 23 July he caused grievous injuries to a 24-year old youth at the victim’s residence in Tal-Pieta’. He was also charged with causing grievous injuries to a 21-year old Briton in Tas-Sliema, four days later.
In the presence of his parents, the teenager stated that he was defending himself on both occasions.
However, the Police are insisting that even if this was the case, the accused disproportionately defended himself by using a knife.
Magistrate Monica Vella released the teenager from custody with a €500 bail deposit and a personal guarantee of €3,500.
Inspectors Roderick Attard and Jessica Bezzina are prosecuting in the case.
