191 applications for emergency scheme linked to November storm

As had been announced by the Gozo Ministry, a special scheme had been set up in relation to the 12 November storm so that workers who could not travel would be compensated for accommodation expenses.

The Gozo Ministry announced in a statement that 191 applications, covering 294 persons, had been submitted for this scheme, and these applications are presently being evaluated. Payments will be made in the coming days through direct deposits into the applicants’ bank accounts.

Minister Justyne Caruana stated this had been an immediate intervention which had been made for the first time by the Gozo Ministry, adding that a plan has been formulated together with criteria in the event of similar situations when the Gozo Channel service is suspended for a length of time.
