20 months prison sentence for woman who admitted to drug trafficking

A woman from Sliema was sentenced to 20 months imprisonment after admitting to trafficking cocaine, heroin and cannabis.

Juanita Grech, 53, was arrested during a raid that took place last June. She appeared before Magistrate Claire Stafrace Zammit and was charged with trafficking cocaine, heroin and cannabis, and of being a relapser. From the evidence, it resulted that the accused had 10 grams of cocaine and 10 grams of heroin.

She was sentenced to 20 months imprisonment and to a €800.00. fine The court ordered the destruction of the drugs.

Juanita Grech’s daughter – Sabrina Grech – was also arrested during the same raid and has already been arraigned in Court. She pleaded not guilty to the charges and was not given bail. That case is still ongoing.
