22 cases of Brazilian variant in Malta – the majority resulting from a group of foreign students

Referring to variants in Malta, Health Syuperintendent Charmaine Gauci stated that the majority are UK variants.

During a media conference, Professor Gauci pointed out that there are five cases of the South African variant and 22 cases of the Brazilian variant. There are no cases of the Indian variant.

In reference to the Brazilian variant, the Superintendent stated that the majority of cases are from a cluster of university students living together in a complex.

Professor Gauci added that there are also two other cases and another person related to this cluster. There were also some sporadic cases not linked to travel.
