350 recycling beverage machines to be distributed by end of year

The Minister responsible for the environment announced that by the end of this year around 350 ‘recycling machines’ will have been distributed for the recycling of beverage containers.

The Minister for the Environment, Climate Change and Planning Aaron Farrugia said this while talking to the Chief Executive of the Malta Resources Authority (MRA), Engineer Anthony Rizzo, about an action plan on the circular economy.

He urged vendors to register so that the system, where a person is given money for returning plastic and metal beverage containers, can be put into operation effectively.

Minister Farrugia also mentioned that he will be addressing the situation of construction waste and said that in the coming weeks an agreement will be signed in principle on recycled stone, so-called ‘reconstituted stone’.
