4 years jail and a fine for two men who caused damage at Ħal Far centre

Guma Mohammed and Yousef Halef Abdel Hamid were each sentenced to four years in jail and ordered to pay a fine of €8,691 each for damages which they caused at the Ħal Far detention centre.

The case goes back to 17 December of last year.

In handing down the sentence, Magistrate Joe Mifsud said that public order applies to everyone and a few people are casting a bad light on the others.

The Court urged the authorities not to remain passive when faced by these type of crimes while it decided that after they serve their sentence, the men will be sent back to Egypt.
