40 new Covid-19 cases in Malta – seven from Confirmation party

The health authorities have registered 40 new cases of Covid-19 in Malta after 1,548 swab tests were carried out.

No new recoveries were registered, and the number of recoveries from coronavirus in Malta has remained 675.

The total number of cases since the start of the pandemic in March has now gone up to 1,035, of which 351 are active.

The health authorities have stated that six cases are part of a cluster from English language schools, four are from the Paceville cluster, another seven cases have been traced to a Confirmation party, four are family contacts relating to known cases and two cases are imported.

The other 17 cases are sporadic cases, meaning they are cases of persons who it is understood would not have had contacts with infected persons.

Nearly 140,000 swab tests have been carried out since the beginning of March.
