4,467 carers working in Malta – 2,470 are foreigners

There were 4,467 carers working in the country till the end of last October, 1,997 of whom were Maltese and Gozitans and 2,470 foreigners from EU and third countries.

The figures were presented in Parliament by Labour Minister Clyde Caruana in a parliamentary reply to a question by government MP, Silvio Grixti.

The largest number of foreign workers – 1,147 – are Philippines, followed by 958 from India and 120 from Pakistan.

These carers are working in hospitals, elderly homes, homes for persons with disability and in residential homes.
