Three small children were among 46 persons rescued by the Armed Forces after they faced difficulties at sea. The three children, aged one, two and five together with their mother, were admitted at Mater Dei for observation. Their condition is reported to be good.
Following their arrival on a patrol boat at Haywharf, at around 7.00 on Wednesday evening, the rest of the migrants were disembarked and taken by Immigration Police for more investigation.
Reports said that the migrants had been at sea for two days and their wooden boat was taking water.
Meanwhile, the migration issue will top the agenda of a Malta meeting next Monday. A number of EU Interior Ministers will participate in the meeting.
