565 persons reported missing during this year

565 persons have been reported to the Police authorities as missing during the period between January and end September. Of these, 514 have been traced, whereas another 51 are still reported as missing.

This information was given in Parliament by Home Affairs and National Security Minister Michael Farrugia in reply to a Parliamentary Question put by Labour MP Byron Camilleri.

Minister Farrugia added that from 2013 to date, 4,784 persons have been reported missing, of whom 3,854 have been traced. 2,671 among those reported missing in the last seven years were under the age of 18.

In another Parliamentary reply to the same MP, Minister Farrugia stated that 26 persons have been arraigned in Court this year on charges relating to sexual abuse of minors. Of these, 24 were males.
