64 new cases of Covid-19, 168 recoveries, 37 hospitalised

64 new cases of Covid-19 were registered overnight and a further 168 recoveries bringing the number of active cases down to 1,609.

There are currently 37 patients receiving treatment for the virus at Mater Dei hospital, five of which are in the ITU.

The new cases emerged after 2,762 ‘swab tests’ were carried out bringing the total number of tests to 1,096,806.

The number of people who have been infected with the virus has risen to 34,439 while the number of recoveries is 32,011.

Until yesterday 760,417 doses of the vaccine were given, 399,724 were first dose while the number of those fully vaccinated is 382,825.

The average age of the 80 cases announced yesterday is 34.

The number of people who have died from the virus remains 423.
