A group of 75 immigrants who found themselves in difficulty out at sea were brought into Malta late last night. The immigrants were found by the Armed Forces of Malta and transferred on to Patrol boat P22. In a statement issued by the AFM it was stated that together with the Italian Coast Guard they carried out a number of rescue operations with the help of the Libyan Coast Guard. The Italian Coast Guard also took a number of other immigrants to Lampedusa.
In the last rescue operation carried out last Saturday, the AFM brought in 216 immigrants at Xatt it-Tiben. They were rescued in two separate rescue operations in the Search & Rescue area of Malta after they found themselves in difficulty in their two dinghies.
