78 new cases of Covid-19 in Malta, another 204 recoveries, elderly woman dies

78 new cases of Covid-19 have been identified over the past 24 hours from 3,260 swab tests, and there have been another 204 recoveries.  This means the number of active cases has now dropped to 1,206.

Meanwhile, 35 patients with Covid symptoms are receiving treatment at Mater Dei Hospital, four of whom are in the Intensive Care Unit.

The total number of infected persons has now gone up to 34,668, and the number of recoveries stands at 32,642.

767,831 doses of the vaccine had been administered up to yesterday, of which 402,373 constituted first doses. 389,610 persons have received the full dose of the vaccine.

Of the new cases announced yesterday, the average age was 35 years.

An 88-year-old woman who was positive with Covid-19 has died during the past 24 hours. The number of Covid victims has now gone up to 424.
