83 vehicles in breach of various contraventions stopped on Coast Road

83 vehicles were stopped by Traffic Police officers on the Coast Road this morning after they were found in breach of various contraventions.

Some 200 vehicles were checked by the Police, who found that 79 drivers had exceeded the speed limit. Two vehicles were also stopped for carrying passengers, including children, who were not using seat belts. Two other vehicles were stopped for being without number plates.

Vehicles exceeding the speed limit included one vehicle caught doing 121km/h in a 70km/h zone.

This enforcement operation was carried out during the European week dedicated to road safety.
