A decrease of 4.1% in accidents at work – 4 fatalities in the first six months
1,420 accidents at places of work were reported between January and June of this year. Compared with the same period of 2015, accidents at work decreased by 60 or 4.1 per cent. There were four fatal accidents during the period when four workers lost their lives at work, one more than the previous period of last year.
A little less than 17 per cent of the accidents occurred in the manufacturing sector, followed by the construction industry. National Statistics Office figures show that more than half of the workers were injured in their upper part of their body or had superficial injuries as a result of accidents at work.
