A dream wedding… on a cruise liner?

Last year, no less than 1,303 couples were married on a Maltese-registered cruise liner. The information was given in Parliament by Prime Minister Joseph Muscat in a question tabled by deputy Byron Camilleri.

Information acquired by TVM shows that the captain of a cruise liner presides at the wedding ceremony of a couple, and that the absolute majority of couples are foreigners. However, there are also a small number of Maltese couples who opt for such a wedding ceremony.

It also emerged in parliamentary replies that last year there were 2,552 marriages and four civil unions in Malta.
