ACE: restrictions should target private parties not restaurants

The Association of Catering Establishments said that if the health authorities  feel the need to increase restrictions, they should target meals and parties at homes and not at food establishments.

ACE was reacting to appeals to increase weekend restrictions, including for a ban on persons to leave their home after 9.00pm.

The association stated that there is no scientific evidence that indicates that the increase in Covid-19 is linked to catering establishments who respect protocols, and that its members were making their utmost to avoid the virus spreading in their establishments.

On the other hand, it added, that it is a known fact that people are gathering in private residences and rent places, especially in Gozo, and that these situations should be addressed.
