MCCAA has launched an Action Plan on the sustainable use of pesticides.
Parliamentary Secretaries Deo Debattista and Clint Camilleri said during a press conference that the plan’s ultimate aim goes further than the imposed regulations by the European authority EFSA on the use of pesticides. The action plan aims that the use is controlled both for the benefit of farmers and even for the Maltese consumers.
MCCAA chairperson, Helga Pizzuto, said that a wide consultation was initiated with the stakeholders in connection with the action plan. She said that the general public may send its ideas on the use of pesticides till next Sunday, so that although the necessary controls resume, everyone has the opportunity to provide ideas so that the products are eventually healthy for consumers and at the same time not to the detriment of farmers.
