Al-Bakr caught in Germany – suspicions that he was planning attack on airport

Jaber al-Bakr, 22, who police have been searching for on suspicions of terrorism, was caught in less than two days of intensive searches by German authorities. Al-Bakr, who was captured in Leipzig, is suspected of planning an attack on Berlin Airport.

The search for al-Bakr began on Saturday after a substantial amount of explosives were found in an apartment in Chemnitz, with around 100 residents having to be evacuated from the block. This explosive was similar to an explosive used in the recent attacks in Paris and Brussels.

Apart from Al-Bakr, three other people were arrested with whom he had contact, two from the Chemnitz station and another person near the apartment where the explosives were found.
