The ambulance service at the Paola Health Center has been re-introduced from today after a span of many years.
The Government said in a statement that in the past an ambulance used to be stationed at the health center, but was stopped by the previous administration.
The ambulance at the Paola center will be used in cases of necessity for patients in the south of Malta.
The emergency number is 112. Until today, the practice was that the ambulance was requested from Mater Dei.
The Health Parliamentary Secretary, Chris Fearne said that the re-introduction of the ambulance service is another prove that primary care is essential for the Government in the network of health services. He said that primary care is the first contact a person makes with the health sector and therefore the sector needs to be equipped with the necessary services for every eventuality.
