American singer Prince dies, aged 57

The music world is in grief with the announced death of singer Prince, one of the most popular singers and song writers of the 80s and 90s. He died at the age of 57.

Born as Prince Rogers Nelson, the American singer died at his home in Minneapolis in the United States. A few days ago, Prince was admitted in a hospital for flu treatment but in a serious condition, and the plane he was travelling on had to make an emergency landing to take him to hospital.

Considered as a controversial figure due to his performance on stage and the lyrics he wrote, during his singing career Prince sold more than 150 million discs around the world. His first success, Purple Rain, released in 1984, sold more than 22 million copies. For a period of time, Prince had also changed his stage name into Symbol, a symbol that is not read.
