‘Amerigo Vespucci’ to circumnavigate Maltese Islands today

The sailing ship ‘Amerigo Vespucci’, which forms part of the Italian naval fleet, will be sailing around the Maltese Islands today.

The Italian embassy in Malta described this sailing trip around Malta as part of the training for first-year students at the Livorno naval academy.

The ship, which is used for training purposes, will sail close to Gozo and continue towards Malta, ending up in Valletta close to sunset.

In Grand Harbour, the ‘Amerigo Vespucci’ is expected to put on an exhibition with lights, with the participation of the 106 students on board.

Afterwards, the sailing ship will continue with its voyage to the Aegadian Islands.
