Admitted to money theft to help feed his siblings

An 18-year-old youth whose name cannot be published by Court Order has admitted to accusations of theft, of having committed a criminal offence after previously being handed two sentences and of having failed to appear in Court.

The Court proceedings revealed the youth is experiencing mental problems as well as other social problems. It was stated he stole money to be able to feed his siblings. Both the Prosecution and the Defence agreed he should not be sentenced to imprisonment but should be given the necessary treatment.

Court ordered a social report to be issued before delivering sentence. In the interim he is to be given physical and mental treatment to help address his social problems.
