Andrzej Duda re-elected as President of Poland

Andrzej Duda has been elected as President of Poland, beating his rival Rafal Trzaskowski with a small majority.

According to the country’s electoral commission, Duda obtained 51.2% of the votes, in what is being considered as the most harshly fought election since 1989,  when Communism ended.

Duda’s victory means that the Government will continue with its controversial reforms in the judiciary and its opposition against LBTIQ rights and abortion,

One of the main issues in the election was, in fact, Poland’s difficult relationship with the EU.
