Angelo Gafà has been officially appointed Malta’s new Commissioner of Police after undergoing a grilling yesterday subsequent to which he was approved by the Standing Committee on Public Appointments.
This appointment follows a public call and a selection process led by the Public Service Commission, in what is the first procedure of its kind for the country.
In a statement, the Minister of Home Affairs, National Security and Law Enforcement Byron Camilleri said that this change was recognised positively by the Venice Commission in a report on governance.
Dr Camilleri said that this change is one of a series of reforms that will be taking place in the Police Force.
