WATCH: Stag saved after spending two years with a rubber tyre around its neck

A stag in Colorado in the United States is a prime example of how refuse dumped by human beings puts wild animals in danger.

The stag spent two years surviving with a rubber tyre around its neck before suffering wounds.

An area resident spotted the stag and informed Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials who cut off its horns and removed the tyre.

The officials were able to determine the tyre had been in place for two years because in July of 2019 they had already spotted the stag while carrying out a survey of sheep and goats living on the mountain side.
