WATCH: Whole family carries out terrorist attacks in Indonesia and kill 13 people

A couple and their four children were responsible for suicide attacks on three churches in Indonesia. The attacks left 13 people dead and scores of others injured.

A girl aged nine was among the members of a family that carried out these attacks in Surabaya.

The first attack was carried out at 07.30 in the morning when two of the children, youths aged 18 and 16, entered a church on motorbikes and released their bombs. A short while later, the father drove his vehicle into a pastoral centre and blew himself up and then the mother and her two daughters aged 12 and nine detonated themselves in another church.

This was the worst attack carried out since 2005 and the first one in which children were used. The family was ISIS inspired and belonged to an Islamic group known as Jemaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD).

Indonesian President Joko Widodo visited the areas that were attacked and described the attacks as “barbaric”. He said he has ordered the Police to destroy this network of terrorists. On the same day the Police said they had killed four suspects and arrested two others.
