Watch: All quiet on the Southern Marsaxlokk market front

Aerial drone footage taken this morning shows a fairly quiet Marsaxlokk bay, which after a two month absence is now up and running its market stalls.

Today contrasts sharply with the hustle and bustle of the market place on Sundays pre Covid-19.

Thousands of people would flock to Marsaxlokk every Sunday to visit the market which runs along the entire bay on both sides. Its popularity saw throngs of people frequenting the stalls mid-morning.

Two days ago the Local Council expressed concern about the situation that could develop, and warned that it would take steps if the mitigation measures were not observed.

It seems, however, that many people have chosen not to visit the stalls today, while a number of vendors have also decided not to set up their stalls, as evidenced by this video shot by a drone:
