WATCH: Stranded on an electricity pole during a parade in front of the King in Madrid

Everything was progressing smoothly during a military parade to mark Spain’s National Day – except for an unfortunate moment when a soldier ended up stranded on an electricity pole.

The man in the Spanish military was descending by parachute carrying the Spanish flag. Just before landing his descent in front of the platform where the Spanish King was, he miscalculated and ended up stranded on an electricity pole.

The crowd was visibly stunned but broke out in applause when it became evident the man had suffered no injuries even though he remained stranded until help arrived.

In aseparate film footage the parachutist is seen being emotional when meeting the King and Queen and the Prime Minister who tried to console him on his accident.
