Arnold Cassola requests Electoral Commissioner to investigate Egrant; PL react
Professor Arnold Cassola has asked the Electoral Commissioner to investigate whether the Panamanian-registered company, Egrant, was set up to raise funds for the Labour Party.
Professor Cassola said that he was requesting this investigation because the collection of funds in this way was against the law of party financing.
In response, in a statement, the Labour Party said that Professor Cassola’s request had no basis. A magisterial inquiry had been held into Egrant the conclusions of which exclude Professor Cassola’s allegations.
The statement went on to say that the Labour Party had been publishing its accounts long before the party financing law was introduced.
