Arrested after washing and recycling COVID-19 tests

In Indonesia several employees of a pharmaceutical company were placed under arrest after allegedly washing and selling as new, tests for Covid-19.

Police said that about 9,000 passengers at Medan Airport may have been tested with tests that had already been used. Police said this scam of Covid nasal tests began from December onward at the airport in Kualanamu.

The scam was detected when several passengers who required a negative test to travel resulted in their testing positive.

A civilian official posed as a passenger and was tested positive and later Police officials raided the place where the tests were being carried out and found a number of recycled test items.
