Two priests arrested on allegations of having raped an altar boy – to be arraigned in Gozo Court
Police have arrested two members of the clergy in connection with the corruption and rape of a boy.
A Police statement said the arrests were made after days of investigation by the Police Anti-Vice Squad which obtained enough proof for criminal proceedings to be initiated against two priests.
It was stated the alleged abuses were carried out some years ago when the alleged victim was still an altar boy.
The two priests were arrested yesterday and today were interrogated at Police HQ.
Police investigations commenced after a report was lodged with the Curia’s Safeguarding Commission.
The two clergymen are to be arraigned in the Gozo Court tomorrow and will appear before Magistrate Monica Vella.
