Attempt to reach agreement today on post-Brexit trade pact

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen are working to reach a post-Brexit trade pact.

The aim is for this agreement to be concluded today. Following a week of intensive discussions, negotiators for the UK and the European Union said there are still significant divergences.

The agreement has to be concluded by 31 December. Divergences still exist of fishing rights and state subsidies for trade, among other issues.
