Australia: 18,000 people evacuated from floods

Around 18,000 Australians have been evacuated from the floods in New South Wales following the heavy rain on the eastern coast. As a result of the heavy downpours, the rivers near Sydney and in the southeast of Queensland overflowed.

Officials said that this happens once every 50 years and the rain might continue throughout this week. The public is being urged to act with caution.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has offered funds to all those who have had to flee their homes, describing this as another test for the country.
