Inspector Eman Hayman from the Anti-Gender and Domestic Violence unit said that from 1 October this unit has received 63 reports of domestic violence.
Interviewed during the programme TVAM, which is transmitted from Monday – Friday, from 7am – 9am, Inspector Hayman explained that this means there are an average of five cases daily. He explained that to date the Police have taken action in 8 of these cases.
On the other hand, the Commissioner for Domestic Violence Audrey Friggieri spoke about the training she has introduced and which is being given to Police officers in this new unit in order for them to better handle the domestic violence reports which they receive.
