Bad weather wreaks havoc in Sicily

The strong Easterly wind blowing over Sicily has caused structural damage to houses and their ceilings in Palermo and surrounding locations.

Thankfully no one was reported to have suffered injuries but the intensity of the wind has uprooted a number of trees and even caused damages to some vehicles.

In total, the civil protection department had to deal with over 100 calls requesting assistance especially in the areas of Oreto and Messina Marine.

The weather has created difficulties for drivers on main roads, railways and has also caused upheaval in the maritime sector with hundreds of tourists who were traveling by boat or catamaran, grounded.
