The Deputy PM has announced that on 7 June bars and social clubs will be allowed to re-open, if the number of positive cases remains low.
He said that from 7 June, restaurants and snack bars can increase the number of people on each table from 4 – 6. On that day, cinemas and theatres can also re-open as well as team sports without spectators, betting shops and contact sports will be extended for children and adolescents under the age of 17. Summer schools will also open on that day.
On 1 June, the Government is planning to pro-actively open the country to tourism in a cautious way. Those who come to Malta need to be vaccinated or have a negative Covid test before boarding the plane or ship to ensure the health of the local population as well as those who are travelling.
Weddings will be able to be held for up to 100 people indoors and 300 outdoors.
On that day, language schools for foreign students will also open, although this will depend on us following the measures.
He added that all this depends on keeping the numbers low and the hospitals being able to cope with demand.
