The 10th edition of “Bethlehem in Għajnsielem” was inaugurated this evening, the first Christmas attraction one sees on arrival in Gozo and which annually draws thousands of visitors to experience the birth of Jesus Christ. The crib is spread over 20,000 square metres and is animated by the participation of 150 actors. For the first time this year there is also space for Roman soldiers.
This edition was inaugurated through the participation of children representing Baby Jesus.
Gozo Minister Justyne Caruana said the nativity village has not only been preserved from year to year but has always continued to grow. She said the village and crib are a destination attraction at Christmas in Gozo and she described it as being a protagonist among a series of activities that will be staged in Gozo this year to help establish it as a Christmas destination. She said the activity is a witness to the strength of Gozo’s social fabric.
‘Bethlehem in Għajnsielem’ will remain open until 6th January when the Epiphany will be represented by the arrival of The Three Wise men.
