Bishops appeal for calm and unity to attain justice

Malta’s bishops appealed to Catholics so that during these days of tension they seek to work together, in a calm and convinced way, for truth and justice.

In a joint statement, Archbishop Charles Scicluna, Auxiliary Bishop Joe Galea Curmi and Gozo’s Apostolic Administrator Mario Grech stated that the work for justice should be done in mutual love and respect.

They said that they join in the appeal by President George Vella so that the current difficult situation will not increase division, adding that in a spirit of unity everyone should work so that the institutions carry out their duty vigorously and impartially.

The Bishops stated that legitimate opinions should be expressed with respect towards others, for truth and without being trapped in hatred, lies and violence.
