Blockchain company to open its headquarters in Malta

Apple co-founder, Steve Wozniak, has announced that a blockchain company will be opening its headquarters in Malta.

Steve Wozniak, who is also the co-founder of Efforce, said that Malta was open to new technological opportunities in the field of blockchain. He said that was why the company, which specializes in energy efficiency, set up its headquarters in Malta. He expressed the wish that other companies follow in his footsteps and invest in Malta.

“I like joining things when people are going off in new and first directions like this. I like novel things and I don’t join many foreign companies at all in my life so I’m hoping that our example causes a lot of other people say “wow – we want to also have some of the advantages of blockchain done this way”. I hope to help make Malta a world centre for that.”

Parliamentary Secretary for Financial Services, Digital Economy and Innovation, Silvio Schembri said that with the regulatory framework created, Malta is an example for other countries. He expressed satisfaction that Malta is now attracting innovators such as Steve Wozniak.

‘The very fact that you acquire the name alone is already enough because it will attract national interest because people like Steve Wozniak do not go to any country – as he himself pointed out – and will be doing lots of background research on where to go.’

During the conference another edition of Delta Summit to be held next October was announced where blockchain and the cryptocurrency industry will be discussed.
