Already renowned for its many farmhouses fitted out as tourist accommodation, Gozo will now also have a number of boutique hotels planned to offer personalised service to visitors. One such hotel was inaugurated at Marsalforn yesterday by Prime Minister Joseph Muscat.
Murella Living is another project by the Jubilee Group, already an established trade name, mainly in the cafeteria and restaurant sector. The new hotel has 24 rooms, all luxuriously fitted out and with different particular designs for each room, with a modern style in which are incorporated themes which portray the character of Gozo.
During the inauguration proprietor Alex Scicluna explained to Dr Muscat that this first hotel of its type in Gozo materialised as tourism was seen to be improving, so much so that half-way through the project plans underwent a change from an apartment development into a hotel.
Mr Scicluna told TVM that the hotel opened its doors six weeks ago, and is already doing better than expected. He explained that Murella Living appeals to a particular tourist market, and together with the larger hotels and farmhouses will continue to improve the tourist product in Gozo.
