Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that Brexit is not the end, but the beginning as the UK begins to prepare to leave the EU after 47 years.
In a speech which will be televised at 10pm tonight British time, an hour before the official departure of the UK, he will describe the departure of the European bloc as a real moment of change and national renewal.
Nothing will really change immediately as after tonight the UK starts a period of transition.
Most of the EU laws, including freedom of movement, will remain in effect until the end of December of this year. By then the UK intends to have reached a free trade agreement with the EU.
