British residents who arrive in UK from hotspot countries will have to quarantine in hotels

British residents who arrive in the UK from countries which are considered hotspots for Covid-19 will be required to quarantine in hotels.

Home Affairs Minister Priti Patel is expected to announce the measures which will apply to those who arrive mostly from South America, South Africa and Portugal amid concerns about the new variant.

Many visitors from these countries are already not being allowed into the UK.

This means that British nationals and those who have a permit to live in theUK who arrive from these countries will have to spend ten days in a hotel at their own expense.
