Budget 2019: Assistance for those on their own who encounter bank loan problems to purchase a property

Minister Scicluna also referred to another reform aimed at those aged 40 and over, and who, because of their age and financial income for persons on their own, find it difficult to get bank loans in order to purchase a new property.

Whilst a person will be in a position to pay not less than half the price of a property, it will now be possible for a bank to loan the rest of the sum, and for the person to pay the loan over a number of years.

Government will be paying the interest for the period of years committed to by the person for payment of the loan.
