Stonework on the new social housing being built in Zurrieq is at an advanced stage. The Minister for Social Housing, Roderick Galdes visited the site at Triq Ta’ Ċiantar which is being transformed into accommodation for 25 families in need.
In a statement the Government said that the project is not only offering new housing but also includes 21 garages. The apartments are being build on a site measuring 1,200 metres squared, which will also be accessible for people with a disability.
Minister Galdes said that the new social housing project has progressed from the standards of previous housing, where instead of having a project concentrated in just one area, you have smaller buildings which leave a better aesthetic impact on the surroundings.
The CEO of the Housing Authority Leonid McKay said that the Authority is trying to find innovative solutions for today’s challenges, while pointing out the schemes introduced by the Authority over the last few months which aim to address different strata of society.
