California: Firefighters rescue mountain lion stuck in tree

A mountain lion which was stuck in a tree was rescued after being spotted by a homeowner while working in his garden in California.

Firefighters were called to the property in San Bernardino after the mountain lion was spotted 15 metres up high in the tree.

After it was tranquilised the lion was brought down from the tree and once biologists established that it was in good health it was returned to the wild.

Biologist Kevin Brennan said that it was common for young mountain lions to wander away from their natural habitat in the wild in an attempt to establish their territory.
